The Executive Council of the Washington University Medical Center Alumni Association has several roles. Most importantly, WUMCAA encourages alumni support of the School of Medicine and allocates funds from gifts that are made to the School of Medicine’s Medical Teaching Fund. The association recognizes alumni achievements such as alumni awards and scholarship honorees. In addition, WUMCAA assists in the education of future alumni, advises Alumni & Development staff and articulates alumni concerns to the university administration.

Executive Council membership includes School of Medicine alumni and former house staff who represent a mix of specialties and generations, and of academic and private-practice physicians. Members live in the St. Louis area and cities across the country.

The Executive Council also serves on committees. The Alumni Award Selection Subcommittee reviews nominations for Reunion alumni awards. It meets in early fall and presents final nominations at the December council meeting. The Nominating Committee recruits members to serve on the Executive Council for the next year. New members are then presented to the Executive Council together for a vote of approval.
