Washington University is known as a destination for the most academically gifted, creative, and imaginative students our nation – and the world – have to offer. The university is committed to enrolling promising students from all economic, ethnic, and social backgrounds to strengthen the educational environment for all. A great education is a transformative experience and develops leaders with depth of understanding and strength of character. Ongoing success in recruiting outstanding students will help continue to build the quality of the university’s academic programs, assist in recruiting the very best faculty, and impact societies throughout the world through the future contributions of the university’s alumnae and alumni.

From the earliest days of the university, alumni and friends have stepped forward to provide financial assistance to the next generation of students. If Washington University is to sustain its standard of excellence and increase the enrollment of talented Black students, it must ensure that this exceptional educational experience is accessible to every qualified student who aspires to graduate from Washington University. To do so will require increased resources for scholarship support.
