​Professional/Industry Networks

​WashU alumni and parents across the country have formed ten professional/industry networks through social media and well-attended local networking events. These events are varied and include expert panel discussions, roundtable discussions, and happy hours.

The following networks are currently active online and in select cities:

WashU Defense, Aerospace, and National Security Network (DANS) - for alumni, parents, and students who have a professional interest in defense, aerospace, and national security education, research, and application.

WashU Entertainment Network - for alumni, parents, and students interested in television, music, theater, and new media. (This network is called HollyWU for Los Angeles based events)

WashU Fashion Network - for alumni, parents, and students in all fashion and beauty related careers including design, manufacturing, distribution, marketing, retailing, advertising, promotion, writing, and styling.

WashU Finance Network - for alumni, parents, and students in all areas of finance including commercial banking, investment banking, hedge funds, private equity and venture capital, financial planning, insurance, accounting, and others.

WashU Government and Public Policy Network - for alumni, parents, and students in all areas of government and public policy including nonprofit, government agencies/executive branch, congress/legislative branch, think taks/research institutions, consulting/government relations firms, and journalism/media.

WashU Health Careers Network - for alumni, parents, and students in all health-related careers including biotechnology, healthcare equipment, healthcare providers, healthcare technology, pharmaceuticals, policy, and research.

WashU Innovators and Entrepreneurs Network – for alumni, parents, and students interested in all areas of innovation and entrepreneurship.

WashU Real Estate Network - for alumni, parents, and students in all areas of real estate including architecture, engineering, development, design, brokerage, insurance, finance, and law.

WashU Sustainability Network - for alumni, parents, and students working on and/or interested in sustainability issues, including energy, ecology, climate change, global sustainable development, environmental justice, and green building.

WashU Tech Network - for alumni, parents, and students in all areas of technology including hardware and software development/sales, IT consulting, and management.


Network Goals

Utilize the networks of our alumni and parent population, campus partners, career center, and schools in order to:

  • Build relationships within industry companies
  • Mentor students and alumni
  • Expand opportunities for internships and employment for current students and young alumni
  • Offer professional development opportunities
  • Highlight alumni and parent businesses/ventures and recognize leaders in the industry

Ways to get involved

Connect on social media

Visit alumni.wustl.edu/connect to join the LinkedIn Groups, our networking and resource group that brings together alumni, students, parents, staff, and faculty to network, explore, discuss trends, and share tech nology, business, and market information within an industry.

Attend an event
Networks host career networking and professional development events in select cities during which alumni and parents can make new connections and explore career interests. Check out the Events Calendar for opportunities near you at alumni.wustl.edu/events.

Volunteers are vital to the success of the Networks. There are many ways in which you can share your knowledge and experience with others to support alumni, students, and the WashU community. Opportunities include planning and/or hosting Network events, providing career support to students and young alumni, and sharing expertise and advice by speaking at an event.
