APAP Policies

We welcome WashU undergraduate alumni and parents of current WashU students to volunteer with APAP.
Parent Member Involvement

Parent members of APAP have important perspectives to share with prospective parents and students as they consider Washington University. Though parent members do not conduct interviews, they may host and attend receptions; staff College Fairs and Interview Days; participate in Parent to Parent Calling, the Parents Resource List, and the International Resource List (if applicable); and help to spread the word about WashU in their communities.

APAP Members Whose Child is Applying to College

We require that any APAP member (alumnus/a or WashU parent) whose child is a high school senior take a one-year leave of absence during that year.

Independent College Counselors

Alumni or parents who are independent college counselors may not participate in APAP. We hope you will continue to refer great students to WashU and we encourage you to contact the Admissions Office regarding any professional questions.

Interviewing People You Know
Please do not interview people you know.  If the applicant is someone you know, or is related to someone you know socially or professionally, we ask that you return the assignment to your chair.  Although you will not conduct an interview with the applicant, the Admissions Committee will welcome a letter of recommendation from you on the applicant's behalf, if you wish to submit one.

If you have any questions about these policies, please contact APAP
