Regional Cabinets

Regional Development Programs

Established in 1995, Washington University’s 21 Regional Cabinets provide some of the university’s most distinguished volunteers and supporters in cities outside St. Louis with a forum to exchange ideas and share information about their efforts on the university’s behalf.  Because these regular meetings include presentations by key university officials, members gain an “insider’s view” of important initiatives such as new academic programs, faculty accomplishments, school capital projects and university-wide endeavors.

The Regional Cabinets act as an umbrella organization that includes alumni, parents and friends representing the university’s seven schools, the William Greenleaf Eliot Society, the Washington University Clubs and the Alumni and Parents Admission Program.
The Cabinets’ mission is to help provide leadership for Washington University and its organizations in key cities across the country and to assist in executing national programs and campaigns.

Regional Development Programs provide primary staff support for the Regional Cabinets.  Regional Directors coordinate the Cabinets’ efforts and work closely with each member, helping to focus on his or her special areas of interest and involvement on behalf of the university.
To date, the following cities and areas have Regional Cabinets:

Regional Representatives:  Our Supporters in Other Cities

Regional Development Programs also facilitate activities in other cities.  During the last Campaign, alumni, parents and friends in a number of smaller cities generated great enthusiasm and support for Washington University. Joining in the effort were leaders in Springfield, Illinois; Cincinnati, Ohio; Portland, Oregon; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Omaha, Nebraska; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as well as in cities in Southwest Florida.  While these cities have too few Washington U. alumni, parents, and friends to warrant the establishment of Regional Cabinets at this time, we expect to plan for a variety of events that engage our supporters, acknowledge their involvement, and enlist them in the life of the university.
