Assembly Series Lecture ‘The Fate of the Earth’: a talk by Elizabeth Kolbert.

In her talk, Pulitzer Prize winner Elizabeth Kolbert will discuss the current biodiversity crises in the context of the great mass extinctions of the past.

Monday, February 19, 2024, 9:45 am at the Missouri Botanical Garden Edison Conservatory

Meet us by 9:45 am in the lobby to join the new Exploring Nature Interest Group for a tour led by a Missouri Botanical Garden docent.  Tour begins at 10:00 am. We will cover your admission; those who are Missouri Botanical Garden members can admit one guest each.  (Option to join us for lunch at Sassafras Café featuring sandwiches, salads, soups, and flatbreads.)

The Woman’s Club were joined by the Risa Zwerling Wrighton Scholarship recipients for a scholarship presentation.

Holiday Flower and Train Show | November 27, 2023

The Enjoying Nature group attended the 2023 Holiday Flower and Train Show at the Edison Garden Conservatory of Missouri Botanical Gardens. Led by a garden docent, the group toured the exhibit that explored the Victorian love of nature and ferns.

Fall Symposium Luncheon and Lecture | November 3, 2023

Members and guests of the club convened at Maggiano’s Little Italy to hear from Dr. Eric Lenze, the Wallace & Lucille Renard Professor of Psychiatry, Director of the Healthy Mind Lab, and Chair of Psychiatry at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Attendees enjoyed lunch and a lecture entitled “Our Aging Society and the Mental Health Crisis of the 21st Century”

Campus Plant Tour | October 11, 2023

The Enjoying Nature group joined horticulturist Cody Azotea from Focal Pointe on a fall tour of the campus plants. They discovered why the Danforth Campus is a certified Arboretum Level II and learned all about the plants and trees that make up the campus design.

Elizabeth Danforth Butterfly Garden Celebration and Woman’s Club Fall Welcome Reception | September 12, 2023

The club gathered under the Butterfly Garden Pergola to enjoy wonderful weather, beautiful flowers, tasty food and great company as we welcomed Washington University Woman’s Club members and guests to kick off another year of Woman’s Club events. Jean Davis was celebrated for her inaugural stewardship of the garden and Tedi Macias shared special memories from working alongside Jean.
